Common Questions
Q&As
What is the dress code?
We want everyone to be comfortable at the ceremony and the reception, so please put your comfort first! The ceremony will be outside in New England in fall, so jackets are encouraged especially if you tend to get chilly. We will also be on the beach for the ceremony, so shoes that you won’t mind getting sandy will also be a great idea!
That all being said, the wedding is nautical themed, so we’d love if our guests would join us in a style we’re calling Nautical Sharp! Basically business casual with a nautical twist. If you’d like some inspiration, click here for some fun outfits we love.
Where should I stay?
There are a couple of options when it comes to where to stay before or after the wedding! Please see the Where & When page for rooms in the venue, other close locations within the resort group, and even more options within the general vicinity. Kennebunkport and Kennebunk have a variety of hotels, motels, and resorts to choose from, so feel free to pick something that suits you best.
If rooms are not available at the Tides and the price of other lodging is prohibitive, please contact us directly. We have set aside a travel assistance fund in lieu of additional room blocks so we can be flexible to the specific needs of everyone who wants to attend.
How long should I stay in Maine?
Hotel block rooms in the Tides are booked for Friday night and Saturday night. You are welcome to book as long or as short as you would like! The area is beautiful for exploring and relaxing before or after the event.
Will children be able to attend?
The venue is sadly not set up for guests under 12 years old.
How can I get there?
Kennebunkport is a coastal town in southern Maine, just outside of Portland. If you’re in the NY or Tristate area, it’s a beautiful 4-5 hour drive up the coast. If you’re from areas further, the Portland airport is just a 30 minute drive from the venue.
There is also an Amtrak stop in Saco, which is a quick ride from the venue and local hotels. Amtrak has service from the Boston area where the nearest larger airport is, as well as connections to many lines in major cities.
Do I need to bring a gift?
Attending a wedding isn’t cheap! We are so grateful to have the company of everyone attending. If you would like to bring a gift, you can see our registries on the main page here. However, your presence is more than kind enough!
